DESIGN AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT: SICILIAN VILLA

I was commissioned to design and deliver this new build villa, which was completed in 2017. Sat in five acres of olive and almond groves, it was built for a private client over two years. With an open plan kitchen and living room at its heart, it sleeps 10 in four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Designed to be used all year round, there is central heating and a large fireplace whilst in the heat of the summer the building is designed to let the wind flow through to keep it cool. The entire property is off grid with solar panels and a bore hole for water.

Working in conjunction with a local engineer, I sourced the land, designed the property, obtained planning permissions and then project managed the build from start to finish. A total turn-key project from start to finish over a two-year period.

REMODELLING: SEVENTIES HOUSE

Creating a fresh spin on an old or dated looking building is something I particularly enjoy. Here we had a rather tired looking home from 1972, great in it’s day but definitely in need of a fresh breath of life. The addition of a wooden verandah, new roof tiles, windows and hint of New England has made an enormous difference (see above). Most of the work was cosmetic and did not require planning but as you can see the transformation is extremely successful.
